Ok. I've had the Maxspect Razor for over a month. The corals do look much better. And its just obvious that the lighting of the tank is better than with the Current lights. I feel more confident that I have healthy lighting for the corals now than I did with my other lights. I don't know about the difference between the Maxspect and other higher end lights like Kessil or Photon V2. But the maxspect are clearly superior to the Current I had.

If your a newbie, like me, it may help to know that the current sat just above the water surface. Which meant I couldn't see the LEDs when I'm sitting on my couch. The higher end lights sit 6 inches or more above the tank. The high distance above the water surface I don't like because you look at these bright lights if you are sitting. Fortunately, I have a canopy that blocks the light. Problem solved.

Can't think of much else to say about them. I'm glad I bought them. No regrets.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. I went with the Zooman but appreciated everyone's help!

What recurve did you end of getting for your 36" tank? I am thinking of getting one for my 48" tank... hoping I can get away with the 36" light.

I bought the R5 200. Here is the link to the one I bought.

Still satisfied.

How does the R5 200 or 150 compare to a similar light like the Proton V2

I don't have a basis for comparison because I don't have the Proton V2 and haven't seen it. But I like the Maxspect Razor. My only complaint is that I have LPS and softies and can't turn the light up above 50%, per the guidelines in the manual. The manual recommends increasing the brightness only in SPS tanks. I tried going up to 75%. I had lots of algae. Not sure if the algae was due having the lights up too high. I'm not sure why that wouldn't happen in SPS tanks where it's recommended to set the lights up at 90%. Anyone know why 90% wouldn't cause an algae problem in an SPS tank but would in an LPS and softie tank? Thanks

Check your PO4

I run my Proton V2+ at 30%, LPS and Softies , 11" high

I plan on hitting 40% max

I'll see how the algae does now that I've cut the lights way down. It seems that I was running them too high. Thanks
