One Current USA Orbit Marine Pro LED would work. I would consider going with the 36"-48" fixture. This light is good for a width of 18". Since you keep soft corals this should not be a problem.

Our aquarium electrical calculator can help you determine the difference. It may be negligible. We love the Razor.

Sweet! We are very glad it's working out so well for you. How do you have the tank stocked?

Hi Reeflover37,

LED's can be deceptively bright. We would recommend starting at 50% then increase intensity by 5% every week or two. From there, you can gauge when to stop by seeing how your corals respond. If your corals begin to retract from too much light, then you would know to stop and back off the intensity a bit.

Just got into the hobby. I have a 42 gallon bowfront. 36 long 20 deep and 18 wide. I would like to have all types of coral. Would this be a good investment?

Congratulations on the new tank! A 36"-48" Orbit Marine Pro would be a good starting point. This fixture will allow to you keep high-light corals towards the top of your aquarium and lower-light corals toward the bottom.

Another option if you don't mind spending a bit more money upfront is the 27" MaxSpect Razor 15,000K. This light is more powerful, so it will allow you to keep any coral anywhere in the aquarium. At the same time, it is fully dimmable so you can operate the light at whatever intensity you need.

I have a question... I have a single 48" OMP and I am on the fence.. I bought it when it first came out and although I do like the color when at full go, I am not getting quite the coverage I would like. My 6 bulb T-5 had way better coverage in my 75g. So now I am contemplating switching lights altogether or maybe adding a second OMP.

My question is can I get a single controller to control both individual units or would I be stuck with two units?

Hi some1fishy,

A 6-bulb T5 fixture is 324W, so it will take more than one 67W Orbit Marine Pro LED to match the output. With two Pro's, you will be able to control them with a single remote but will have two separate 'controllers'.

If you have any other questions or would like suggestions on different fixtures, please let us know.

Hi,

I have a 124 Gallon mixed reef. Some SPS and softies, mushrooms, etc. Tank is 60"Lx24"Wx22"D
I currently have 3 10K 175W MH and 2 96W 50/50 PC's on the tank. Would love to replace the lights with LED.

Would a dual pro give me comparable light? Also, I spoke to a local fish store and he said the Orbit Marines they tested had a prominent red/orange tinge to them that they were not able to get rid of. Is this normal?

Hi Va7zt,

That's quite a bit of light you currently have: 717W. Unfortunately, the Dual Orbit would not replace what you currently have as the 48"-60" Dual Orbit is only rated at 134W. With the Warm white and Magenta LED's, the fixture does have a slight tinge: however, it does help to bring out certain colors.

We would recommend something more powerful: such as a 43.5" MaxSpect Razor or two EcoTech Marine Radions.
