Maintenance / Other update:

I've been doing all the regular things (ATS cleaning, Skimmer) and keeping the AWC running (4-5 gallons a day) as well as now running some GFO. Seems to be exhuasting every 5-6 days. I've been running small amounts so as not to strip the system completely but it's having what I would call a very small impact on the GHA problem so after some traveling this month I'll probably turn it up a bit. Unsure what I'll do next if the GFO doesn't assist in the GHA.

Looks like it could be turf algae or Byropsis.

I've lost patience. I came home from a week of business travel to great looking coral and a solid green mat across my entire tank. It mostly pulled out easy enough but I just don't understand where the nutrients are coming from.

I'm going to significantly up my GFO dosage and give fluconazole a try. Hopefully the GFO will uptake as this crap dies off. Sadly it will almost certainly completely wipe my ATS which is finally growing well.

Nice colors...what lense are you using on your T3? It gave some confusing info when I checked the EXIF. it showed...

Lens Type - Canon EF 28-70mm f/2.8L or Sigma or Tamron Lens

lol. But its saying 90mm...lol

Thanks nightOwl 95% of the photos I post are taken with a Tamron 9mm Macro (https://www.amazon.com/Tamron-AF-90m...ro%2B90mm&th=1)

Not sure why the camera is confused by the lense but the EXIF is weird I agree.

Dosed Fluconazole today at suggested dosing. Skimmer set to aerate but not skim, no filter sock. I'm leaving GFO running this dose to see what it does.

10 days into the treatment. I want to say I'm seeing browning out and diminishing mass of the algae mats but it's hard to say yet and I don't want to get excited that this might work. The back and front glass have never been so clean however so I know it's working on some algae. 11 days to go, then a big water change and probably another dose, since I can't imagine all this algae dying off in 10 days.

on a much more frustrating note we lost our Midas Blenny who was the clown of the tank. Our cat got on top of the tank and allowed him to jump out. I found him alive on the floor but not in time, he died over night.

Thanks, the blenny is a real downer. The coral thankfully while starting to lighten up in a few places are still growing like weeds.

Well, after taking photos of the same piece of rock day after day it's clear that the Fluconazole is working 12 days in. It's not all gone but large patches of rock are opening up where there once was only matts of algae. What is left is starting to brown and thin out. I am beyond elated and the idea of having my tank back has me very excited.

here is a FTS 12 days in:

I hope that in 10 more days I have similarly good news to report (hopefully that more of it is gone).

Now off to change my GFO and get 100 gallons of water mixing to do a big water change when this is over. I also need to make more ALK 2 part and check my ALK & Calcium, which I have left unchecked since starting Fluconazole.
