I have a 40g tank that has been going for the last 3 months, slowly filling with coral

If it’s simple coral I don’t see a huge issue but you will be topping off like crazy from Evap. Harder coral needing stable levels will be more
Of a challenge |

Do you think I could pull of some LPS? I love LPS, I need a place to grow out the pieces.

Do you have a sump for your 40g? If you do, hooking the 4 gallon into your existing system is the best way to go by far.

I don't have a sump for it. It would be a stand alone, but I saw they had a 7g frag tank, would that make a huge difference

4 gal is pretty useless IMO. Get the 10 if you can afford it and even that is probably not a great option if it won’t be hooked up to a bigger system.
Just looked up the price. Paying $150 for a 4gal tank with basically a false wall and powerhead is nuts. Just buy a 10g tank and HOB filter and you’ll have a bigger tank for a quarter of the price. |

Something that small is gonna be tough to keep stable. If you can plumb it into the main system somehow... that'd be best.

I am currently considering what tank to get. However I still don't know if I should run a protein skimmer. If I should add a fish or invert for bioload. Also what type of light would be best? I was think AI Prime or Kessil A80
