Does anyone know what these things are?

They are in the corner overflows. I thought it was algae growing, but it looks like it has a distinct structure. There are maybe a dozen that I can see on each overflow. Is this some kind of worm?

Looks like a sponge to me and given it's location I believe that's what they are.

Yep.. pineapple (q-tip) sponges..
Very common in a new tank.. beneficial filter feeder..
Their population seems to explode at first then will taper off..
They are always growing in overflows,etc...
