Large particulate fowling sediment filter fast

I just installed a new zeta zorb last night. I've made about 80 gallons at 2:1, so a total of about 240 gallons has passed through the ZZ. It started at 60 psi in/out. Its now down to 60/50, so almost the 20% drop with just 240 gallons.

Do you have any suggestions on a more cost effective way to filter large sediment?

As a side note: if I have DI resin that's been in the mylar bag for quite a few years, will it still show 0 on the TDS meter but be exhausted? Or if I use it, and it shows 0 on TDS, then its still has some capacity left?

Thanks!
